Clariant invested $12.6 million for its new plant in central Poland.
Switzerland’s Clariant International Ltd. has launched production at its new facility in Konstantynów Łódzki, in central Poland.
The plant will allow the firm to double its output in the Polish market and respond the growing demand for its products, the company said in a news release.
The investment is worth 38 million Polish zloty ($12.6 million). The facility is located on a 16,000-square-meter site in the country’s Łódzka special economic zone and will supply masterbatches to various plastics manufacturers in Central and Eastern European markets.
Konstantynów Łódzki is located 11 kilometers from the city of Łódź.
The company’s latest investment created some 140 new jobs at the Polish factory. In addition to this, Clariant is aiming to take on 30 workers at the new plant.
Ralph Rutte, chief executive of Clariant Poland, said that the opening of the new production facility confirms the importance of the Polish market for Clariant.
“CentralEurope is a very promising market and Poland, as a large and dynamically growing country in the region, is the natural place for further investments,” said Clariant CFO Patrick Jany in a statement.
In September 2011, the Swiss company bought local masterbatches manufacturer Colex. With the launch of the new plant, Clariant is shifting production from Colex’s factory in Zgierz, Poland, to the facility in Konstantynów Łódzki. |
